The Alexander Mitchell Public Library has 1 scanner available for anyone to use, card holder or not. Our scanner use guidelines are as follows:
A digital scanner is available for patron usage of 1 hour per day.
There is no charge to scan a document and save it to a USB (flash) drive or CD-R or to e-mail it to yourself or someone else. If a patron wishes to save to a CD-R or a USB (flash) drive, they must provide their own. [The library does have CD-Rs and USB (flash) drives available at the front desk for $1/each & $10/each respectively.]
The scanner has the ability to scan photos, documents & other items.
All scanning is done at the patron’s own risk. Alexander Mitchell Public Library will not assume responsibility for materials that are damaged by the scanning process.
Intermediate computer skills are required to use the scanner.
The scanning station is self-service. While staff can provide help & introductory training, staff is not able to complete scanning work for you. Please note AMPL staff members will provide a brief introduction to & basic instruction on the operation of the scanner for patrons as time allows.
The user is responsible for observing all copyright laws when scanning copyrighted materials. Use of the scanner must be consistent with US Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code), state and federal law, and AMPL’s Computer Use Policy.
Patrons may call 605-626-7097 to reserve the computer/scanning station.
