On February 8th, a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for the North side of Aberdeen became effective, which eliminated many properties from the 100 year flood plain. This notice is to inform you that property located on the north side of Aberdeen likely is not in the 100 year flood plain any longer. Your mortgage and insurance companies may need additional documentation, which can be obtained by downloading the floodplain map. If you do not have access to the internet, you can obtain a copy of the revised flood plain map for your area by visiting our office at City Hall (3rd Floor). FEMA is reminding us that while your property may not be in a 100 year flood plain, that this does not guarantee your property against flooding. They are recommending that you look at keeping your flood insurance and that it would be at a preferred (reduced) risk rate. We would recommend that you contact your Insurance provider to be better informed on your options regarding your Flood Insurance. Our office is staffed from 8 to 5, Monday thru Friday, if you need to obtain a map or to answer any questions that you may have.
