Final Clarification & Disinfection
Final ClarifierFinal Treatment
Final treatment once again involves clarification. There are two 90-foot diameter final clarifiers that allow the water and bugs from the aeration basins to settle. The solids (the bugs) are settled out.

Some of the organisms are returned to the secondary treatment system to replenish the supply of bugs and the rest are wasted to the digester.

Disinfection Using Ultraviolet LightsDisinfection Lab
The treated wastewater is then disinfected using ultraviolet lights and then discharged to Moccasin Creek. At this point, over 95% of the suspended solids, over 97.5% of the oxygen-demanding pollutants, and 99.6% of the ammonia has been removed from the water.

Next step: Biosolids
