Pretreatment
InfluentFirst Step in Treatment Process
Pretreatment of the wastewater is the first step in the treatment process. Pretreating the waste aerates the water and keeps inorganic objects such as rags, rocks, grit, etc., from plugging or impairing the pumps and processes further down the treatment line. This is accomplished by using several different screening devices which catch progressively smaller particles.

Controlling the Flow of Wastewater
The pretreatment building also houses the process control gate which allows plant personnel to control how many gallons are entering the plant. In cases of unusually high flows (due to flooding from storm events or rapid snowmelt) the process gate can be lowered along with the addition flow sent to the flow equalization lagoons.
