Registration for all Spring Classes begins the Monday, January 4th at 8am. Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required. Payment can be made by credit or debit card by phone or by check or cash in person. Online Registration also available. All classes are subject to 6% sales tax. THE BASICS OF STORY WRITING – NEW!
Explore the basics of story writing, including
hatching an idea, building a plot, developing
characters, and writing scenes and dialog. We'll
also learn tips and tricks to make your writing
clean and clear. Bring your own stories to edit and
work on, or come with ideas and we will start from
scratch. Ages 16 and up.

BEGINNING NOVEL WRITING – NEW!
Explore how to get your big idea on paper. We
will look at plot structure, story arcs, character
development, and the long term issues of turning
a story into a page turner. Bring your current work
in progress, stories you developed in session one,
or a novel idea to get started. Ages 16 and up.

‘The Basics 0f Story Writing’ and Beginning Novel
Writing, as the second session will build on materials
in the first. However, if you have experience writing
and already have a novel in progress, you will be
welcome to take the second session without taking
the first.

“INK SPOTS” WRITERS GROUP
The “Ink Spots” are an informal group of people
who enjoy writing and learning from each other.
Each month different prompts will be used to write a
quick squiggle that can be shared if the writer chooses.
Group listening to help the writer express themselves
without interruption. For more information call

WRITE AND ILLUSTRATE A CHILDREN’S BOOK
Learn about character development, story process,
artwork for a children’s story, and writing. Tom
has published three books including “Whimsical
Rascals”, “Wally Wuzzlemoore Meets Little Miss
Hate-It”, and Wally Wuzzlemoore Makes New
Friends”. Ages 16 and up.

PLAYING WITH WORDS – NEW!
Sometimes the simplest or juiciest words, phrases,
or tunes bring life into focus when we need it most.
That is the power of poetry. Words help us make
sense and meaning of our daily lives in both the
little things and big ones. Making poetry is easy,
fun and even, occasionally, life changing. In this
class we will brainstorm lists of fun, words that are
unusual, musical sounding, evocative, etc. Then we
will pick words from our “word pool” and arrange
them in unexpected fun ways! Discover your hidden
poet and enrich your life in the process. Ages 16 and up.

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR PAINTING
Learn how to watercolor paint! This class will
take you through the basics and beyond for novice
painters, and give refresher skills to experienced

BASIC DRAWING
Learn to draw using basic techniques such as
shading, rendering, line, composition, and etc.
while exploring various mediums such as pencil,
colored pencil charcoals and pastels. No experience
necessary, just a willingness to learn, relax, and
have fun! Ages 18 and up.

BEGINNING ROSEMALING
Norwegian Rosemaling, a heritage art form that is
of cultural and historical significance. After learning
the strokes you will paint an 8 inch plate in one of the
three styles of rosemaling--Telemark, Hallingdal, or
Rogaland. Ages 16 and up.

BEGINNING OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP – NEW!
This beginning class will give you an introduction
to the nuances of painting with oils – what to paint
on, the types of oil paint available, blending agents,
painting characteristics and approaches to common
methods used when painting. The instructors will
demonstrate a variety of approaches to brushstrokes,
blending, shading, detailing, and other basic stroke
effects while participants practice alongside. This
is a good introduction for the beginner to continue
exploring oil painting at your own pace. Ages 18 and up.

ENCAUSTIC PAINTING
One of the oldest forms of art, encaustic uses hot wax
to paint and seal images in layers. Learn techniques
to transfer images onto the wax; ink in lines or paint
with oils. The more layers you make, the more depth the
finished piece will have. Ages 16 and up.

WHINE AND CANVAS – NEW!
So much stress in your life that you’re afraid you’d
binge at a wine and canvas party? No wine to offer,
but plenty of whining and laughter therapy (along
with coffee, tea and cookies) to help ease the stress of
the day! Bring a friend, or go solo in this FUN class
geared toward making and completing a mixedmedia
acrylic painting on canvas. Learn some basic
techniques for painting with acrylic paint along with
an introduction of various mediums you can add for
dimension, texture and special effects. Ages 16 and up.

BEGINNING PORTRAIT DRAWING PART II
