Registration for all Spring Classes begins the Monday, January 7th, 2013. Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required.  Sewing Machine Class
BASIC SEWING MACHINE CARE – NEW!
Don’t be intimidated by your sewing machine. This class will cover cleaning, oiling, needles, tension and some other hints that should help keep your machine out of the shop!

CELTIC KNOTWORK – NEW!
Learn basic Celtic knotwork! Start with basic carrick knots to form small items, like decorative pieces for jewelry, hair jewelry, clothing pins or coasters. Work up to learning the ocean plait to make small mats and doormats. Wear or display your creations on St. Patrick’s Day with pride! Ages 16 and up.

WOOL FELTING FOR BEGINNERS – NEW!
Learn the ancient art of felting wool. You will explore “wet” felt techniques, then learn a “dry” felt technique used to build layered design over another piece of felt. Students will have the opportunity to make felt material and needle felt a decorative appliqué onto the material. Supply fee includes wool roving, yarn, felting needle and foam. Ages 11 and up.

BEGINNING SPINNING
Create your own yarn! Beginning with prepared wool fiber, students will learn how to spin without the use of any tools, graduating to a spindle, and finally experiencing the spinning wheel. Samples of natural fibers will be available for experimentation. No previous experience needed. Spinning wheels and drop spindles provided. Ages: 14 and up. Please indicate if you have your own spinning wheel.

BEGINNING KNITTING
Start with a knit and felted coaster, then, make a ribbed-knit designer scarf. Students will learn knit and purl stitches. Ages 14 and up.

BEGINNING BASKETRY – NEW!
Using natural reed, learn how to weave a small square basket to hold napkins or other items. No experience necessary. Ages 16 and up.

LONE STAR QUILT WALL HANGING – NEW!
This class, led by Vi Colombe, of Mission, SD will teach you how to construct a Lone Star quilt pattern. This fun, enjoyable class is taught in a simplified way that can be adapted to multiple skill levels. Class will include a study of color values in the Lone Star pattern and many helpful tips and hints that have been picked up through the instructors many years of quilting. Class meets Friday and Saturday. This class is cosponsored with the Aberdeen Quilt Guilds.

EMBROIDERERS' GUILD OF AMERICA
EGA is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of the art of embroidery. Membership is open to anyone interested in needlework, from the beginner to the professional. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the ARCC. QUILT GUILDS
The Aberdeen Quilt Guild meets the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the ARCC. The Candlelight Quilt Guild meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to anyone interested in quilting. Local quilters meet to share old and new techniques in cutting, piecing, color selections, and quilting by hand or machine. Demonstrations held monthly. Please call 626-7081 for more information.
