Express Train, Carousel & Wizard's Balloon
Wylie Park Hours of Operation for August and September.
Storybook Land Express Train, Land of Oz Carousel, & Wizard's Balloon
The Aberdeen Sertoma Club and the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department sponsor the operation of a miniature train, a carousel, and a balloon ride, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend in Storybook Land.
Storybook Land Express Train
The train, a scale model replica of an 1863 C.P. Huntington, runs over a one-mile track that circles Storybook Land, the Land of Oz, and travels through the zoo area.
Land of Oz Wizard's Balloon
The newest ride in the Land of Oz is the Wizard’s Balloon ride. It features eight festive balloons which can accommodate up to 32 riders. The balloons, powered by a hydraulic cylinder, slowly rise and rotate until they reach a maximum height of 32 feet. Once they reach the top, the balloons continue to rotate and offer a panoramic view of the Land of Oz.
Land of Oz Carousel
The Aberdeen Sertoma Club, with the generous support of the community, funded the purchase of a 30-horse Allan Herschell carousel which operates in the Land of Oz.
Hours of Operation
The train, carousel, and balloon rides operate from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm during the summer (from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend) at a cost of $1.75 per person to ride or purchase a 10-ride punch card for $14.00. All profits generated through the operation of the train, carousel, and balloon rides are used for future improvements at Storybook Land and the Land of Oz.
