Historic Districts

Aberdeen has three state designated historic districts:
  • Hagerty & Lloyd Historic District
  • Aberdeen Highlands Historic District
  • Aberdeen Commercial Historic District
In addition to our historic districts, Aberdeen has numerous properties that are listed individually in the State/National Register of Historic Places. 

In a continuing effort to preserve historic structures, the State Historic Preservation Office issues guidelines on how contributing historic structures may be repaired or modified. The State Historic Preservation Office's (SHPO) process for

performing any work on an historic property (or a project that may encroache upon historic property), begins with an application submitted to the City Planning & Zoning Department.
