STORYBOOK LAND EXPRESS TRAIN, LAND OF OZ CAROUSEL AND WIZARD BALLOON

The Aberdeen Sertoma Club and Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department sponsor the operation of a miniature train, a carousel and a balloon ride Memorial weekend through Labor Day.  The train, a scale model replica of an 1863 C.P. Huntington, runs over a one-mile track which circles Storybook Land, Land of Oz and travels through the zoo area.  The Aberdeen Sertoma Club, with the generous support of the community, funded the purchase of a 30-horse Allan Herschell carousel which operates in the Land of Oz.  The newest ride in the Land of Oz is the Wizard’s Balloon ride features eight festive balloons which can accommodate up to 32 riders.  The balloons powered by a hydraulic cylinder slowly rise and rotate until they reach a maximum height of 32 feet.  Once it reaches the top, the balloons continue to rotate to offer a panoramic view of the Land of Oz.  The train, carousel and balloon rides operate daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at a cost of $1.50 per person to ride. Hours of operation may vary August 16 through Labor Day.  All profits generated through the operation of the train, carousel and balloon will be used for future improvements at Storybook Land and the Land of Oz.
