The Aberdeen Sertoma Club, in cooperation with the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has initiated a fundraising campaign to replace the current entrance building (the Ark) serving Storybook Land with a new visitor center. There will be many benefits as a result of constructing a new center. The Visitor Center will be a focal point for visitors entering the park and will serve as a valuable asset to the park. The project includes developing a plaza area at the entrance of the visitor center and an outdoor picnic patio adjacent to the food court. The visitor center will be approximately 4,000 square feet in size. The estimated cost to construct the entrance plaza, visitor center and picnic patio is $900,000. Our goal is to conclude the fund drive in the spring of 2009. Construction will begin in the fall of 2009 and the center will open in the spring of 2010.
