Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department
The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department offers volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas.  The department offers numerous recreation programs and special events and manage many park and recreation areas and facilities.  We need your help.  As a volunteer, you gain valuable skills, meet new people and achieve a proud sense of contributing to your community.

Who May Volunteer
Anyone can become a volunteer.  Persons of all ages and abilities have something valuable to contribute.  Applicants under 18 must have parental or legal guardian consent.

What to Expect
All volunteers serve without pay.  However, reimbursement of out-of-picket expenses may be available.  The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department does not carry medical or accident insurance for volunteers.  We suggest that you review your family's personal health insurance plan to be sure that is provides you with sufficient coverage.

Volunteer participants and those legally responsible for them shall indemnify and save harmless the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, Park and Recreation Board of the City of Aberdeen, its agents, officers, officials and employees from and against any liability, claims, demands, expenses, fees, fines, penalties, suits, proceedings of action and causes of action of any and every kind of nature arising out of or grouting out of or in any way connected with providing volunteer services for the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department of the City of Aberdeen.

Volunteers are limited only by their willingness to server.  You may work full time or just a few hours each week.  You will receive a general orientation as well as training specific to your need.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact the department at 605-626-7015 for information on the volunteer position which are available.  All volunteers are encouraged to complete an interest form.
