Is there a curfew in Aberdeen?

Yes, there is a curfew for people seventeen and under. The curfew on weekdays is 10:30 p.m. and on weekends 11:30 p.m. While there is no fine for violating curfew, the officer will contact the parent and talk about the case. If the person is a repeat offender the City attorney may take further action.

Where is the courthouse?

The Brown County Courthouse is located at 101 Southeast 1st Avenue, Aberdeen, SD. Courthouse hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Where do I register my bike?

Register your bike at the City Treasures Office, 123 South Lincoln Street. The cost is $2.00 for the life of the bike. While there is no fine for not registering a bike, registration not only deters theft, but also helps in successful recovery should a theft occur.

Does the Aberdeen Police Department hold Police Auctions? How do I find out their dates and times?

Yes, the Aberdeen Police Department holds auctions in the spring of each year. They are posted in the paper and a radio ad is placed.

The Aberdeen Police Department does hold lost and found keys and eyeglasses in the front lobby at 123 South Lincoln Street.

Where do I license my pet? 

License your pet at the City Treasures Office, 123 South Lincoln Street. The cost is $7.00 per year for an un-fixed pet and $3.00 per year for a fixed pet. There is $55.00 dollar fine for an unregistered dog or cat.

What do I need to do to block our street for a Block Party? 

Make arrangements to get on the agenda for the city commission meeting. Commission meetings are held every Monday night. Call the City Hall Finance Officer at 626.7023 by the Thursday before the Commission meeting to be placed on the agenda.

How can I do a ride-along with the Aberdeen Police Department?

All citizens must be approved by the following method prior to being allowed to ride with a patrol officer.

1) The individual requesting to ride-along shall complete and sign the approved Waiver and Release form.

·        If the individual is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must also sign the form.

·        No one under the age of 14 years, unless approved by the Operations Division Commander, will be allowed to participate in the program.

2) A local background check shall first be performed on the individual requesting to ride along.
