On
behalf of the entire Aberdeen Police Department I would like
to welcome you to Aberdeen and tell you a little about our
organization.
The
Aberdeen Police Department is a community-oriented police
organization comprised of 42 commissioned officers, 8
civilian employees and volunteers. We provide around
the clock services in the city of Aberdeen and on the
Northern State University.
Our
station is located in City Hall at 123 South Lincoln Street
and is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Emergency assistance is available through a phone outside
the main door.
We
are proud of our fine patrol force, our D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse
Resistance Education) programs in the schools, our Reserve
Corps, our Motorcycle and Bicycle Patrol, our SRO (School
Resource Officer), and our Investigations section. Additionally,
we proudly participate in South Dakota’s Child Safety Seat
Program (Project 8), Neighborhood Watch, and National Night
Out. But, most of all, we are proud of our people - the fine
men and women who make up our department and who are keenly
dedicated to protecting and serving this outstanding
community.
We
have a ride-along program whereby you can spend time in a
patrol car observing an officer go about his or her duties.
Our Crime Prevention program offers complimentary security
inspections as well as advice and literature on a variety of
crime prevention and safety subjects. If we can ever be of
service to you in these or other capacities, please don't
hesitate to call upon us.
Aberdeen
is a very special place to live, to work, to study, to raise
children and to retire. All of us in the Aberdeen
Police Department are committed to work in partnership with
you, our citizens, to preserve and improve our special
quality of life.
Welcome
to Aberdeen.
Don
E. Lanpher, Jr.
