WHO DO I CALL TO GET LOCATES BEFORE I DIG?

Please call the Public Works Office to report the location.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE WATER AT MY HOME OR BUSINESS?
The Public Works Department does send out public service announcements in advance when information is available about water shut off for utility work. In the event of a water break or unscheduled repairs water may need to be shut off without notice. Please call Public Works for information.
WHAT IF MY WATER METER IS LEAKING?
Call the Public Works Office to set up an appointment for repairs. The Utility Meter Division will maintain your water meter free of charge for normal repairs. (There will be repair charges for frozen meters, damage by hot water backing into them or damage done to the meter by tenant or property owner.)
WHAT IF MY WATER CONSUMPTION SEEMS TOO HIGH ON MY WATER BILL?
If your water consumption seems too high, check your home or business for leaks in the restrooms. The water meter will not register water consumption unless water is going through the meter.
WHAT IF MY WATER LOOKS RUSTY OR DISCOLORED?
Don't be alarmed, your water is safe! The Public Works Department does send out public service announcements when the information is available ahead of time concerning fire hydrant flushing or water main flushing that may cause discolored water. For information regarding a concern please contact the Public Works Office.
WHAT IF I HAVE UNEXPECTED WATER IN MY BASEMENT?
If you have water that you feel may not be ground water caused by large amounts of rain or snow, contact the Public Works Office for assistance in determining if you have a ground water problem.
WHAT IF MY SEWER IS BACKING UP?
If your sanitary sewer is backing up in your home or business, call the Public Works Office and the Utility Division will run the sewer main to make sure there is no blockage. It is recommended that the main line be checked prior to contacting a private sewer cleaning service. The city is not responsible for the private sewer cleaner's bill.
WHY DOES THE RAINWATER SOMETIMES FLOOD THE STREETS AND NOT GO DOWN THE STORM DRAINS?
After a heavy rain the storm water mains fill with water draining towards the holding ponds and the mog. Once the storms mains are full, storm water will drain much slower until the mains clear. If you have a concern about a flooded area, please notify the Public Works Office of the location.
