    Solid Waste Disposal

      COLLECTION

Single and two family residential solid waste is collected weekly by the Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department. Major changes in collection districts are not planned and your day for collection will not change unless notified in writing by the Public Works Department. The collection points for most residences will be adjacent to the street or alley. Persons that are physically unable to bring their wastes to the collection points may apply for “Carryout” service through the Public Works Office.

Solid Waste must be at the collection points by 8:00 AM on the day of collection. This time is normally set at 7:00 AM during the summer months.  Solid Waste may be set out as early as the night prior to the day of collection. All containers and or racks must be removed from the boulevards and or public right of ways after the day of collection.

Containers for garbage shall be between 10 and 34 gallons in size, and be water tight and metal or plastic material. Containers for rubbish shall not be larger than 34 gallons (4.5 cubic feet) and shall have sufficient strength to permit handling without rupture or tearing.

Wood, branches, brush, and tree limbs must be cut in three-foot lengths, be bundled for handling and set adjacent to the street or alley. Only limbs less than 8 inches in diameter will be collected by the City.

Rubble, building materials, carpet, shingles, lumber, tree trimmings and other materials or debris generated by a contractor on the premises are the responsibility of the owner, or the contractor to dispose of properly. This may require the service of a private hauler.

Any questions or problems call the Public Works Department at 626-7010.
