“Through My Eyes” All Aberdeen Reads 2017

The K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library invites everyone in the Aberdeen area to participate in their annual One Book One Community program, All Aberdeen Reads.  Join us, Friday, October 27, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library community rooms, for an inspiring event as Minnesota author, Tammy Wilson, talks about her book, “Through My Eyes.” This story is one of compassion, empathy, and the importance of eliminating stereotypes to promote social justice. Join eleven-year-old Zamzam as she navigates her way through her new country while embracing her Somali values. This event is free and no tickets required.

Tammy Wilson is an author and elementary school principal in Saint Cloud, MN. Working in a school with a high Somali population, she saw a need for her students to see themselves represented in literature. This compelled her to write a book to not only inspire children, but also educate adults.

The mission of All Aberdeen Reads is to promote literacy, cultivate inter-generational and multicultural discussions, and foster a sense of community by bringing people together through literature.  “Through My Eyes” is a story that inspires conversations about biases and stereotyping of cultures.

Books may be ordered at Anchors of Faith or checked out at the Public Library.
