Youth Classes

Registration Begins Tuesday, January 3 at 8:00 a.m.

Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required. Payment can be made by credit or debit card by phone or by check or cash in person. Absolute beginners will gain knowledge and skills to throw pots on a potter’s wheel, while those with experience can learn ways to improve skills. Ages 13 and up.

This 6-week class will focus on practical hands-on applications for real life situations. Participants will gain self-confidence as they begin to recognize and put to use basic survival instincts and natural reactions in potentially threatening situations. Participants should wear clothes suitable for low impact exercise. Ages 16 and up.

Kids and an adult pal of their choosing will work together using hand building techniques to form Garden Markers, bird baths, and fantastic little garden friends, with earthenware clay. The first three weeks will be dedicated to hand building, the last week dedicated to painting your creations with low-fire ceramic glaze. This is a great opportunity to spend time together while sharing a new hobby and plenty of fun memories. Ages 8 and up with adult.

Learn how to throw pots on a potter’s wheel together with one of your favorite people! Class size will be limited to 4 pairs for individualized attention. In this fun tactile mixed media class, participants will learn techniques to shape worlds utilizing an assortment of cloth. Participants will create an illusion somewhere in between pixel art and brushstrokes using layers of textiles and features from repurposed clothing, linen, and other odds and ends. Ages 12 and up.
