Description of Allowances

The Aberdeen Water Reclamation Plant is operated under the regulatory provisions of the Federal Clean Water Act. The Surface Water Discharge permit issued to the City of Aberdeen by the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources contains pollutant limitations and performance standards.

This permit allows the discharge of the treated effluent into Moccasin Creek and ensures that the plant is operated correctly and the provisions of the federal Clean Water Act are followed. The plant is staffed around the clock by certified water reclamation treatment plant operators.
