The City of Aberdeen is taking precautions to protect our community from possible exposure to COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library will be closed to the public through May 3, 2020. It may be necessary for the city to further adjust services depending upon circumstances. Governor Kristi Noem announced on March 24, 2020 that schools in South Dakota will remain closed through May 1, 2020. In light of this announcement, the City of Aberdeen has also decided to extend our closure dates. We encourage you to visit the website of www.cdc.gov/COVID19.
During this time, we will utilize our website and social media channels to share information, including updates on our closure and tips for making the most of online Library resources. We also encourage you to explore books, movies, shows, research tools, and more to download and stream.
Don't worry about things like overdue books or returning items - any physical materials currently checked out will have due dates extended until we reopen. Any holds that were placed will be waiting for you to pick up when we reopen.
We hope you understand that to interrupt our mission of providing access to information, ideas, and experiences is something we do only because we feel we have no other choice for the sake of public safety. Please stay safe, monitor your health, follow guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and check for updates at the SD State Department of Health.
We look forward to seeing you again when we reopen, and in the meantime, please take care of yourself and those around you.
Staff will be available for questions by phone or email each weekday from 9AM-4PM.
