Insta Read by the Slice  ReadyRead by the Slice!

The K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library and Danger Von Dempsey’s are giving away free pizzas to area children, 5 – 18 years old, through the Read by the Slice reading program. Beginning January 1, 2023, participants can register for the Read by the Slice program by using the READSquared library app. For every 800 minutes read, children will receive a free 8”pizza. Participants can pick up their coupon at the Public Library and redeem for an 8” pizza at Dempsey’s, 1023 S. Main St, Aberdeen, SD. Children do not have to have a library card or go to school in the Aberdeen school district to participate.  All books qualify.  


3D Mario Game Tween Take and Make: No more screens. Create your own 3D Mario game. It’s easy to make and lots of fun. Kits are first come first served.

When: Tuesday September 12 and Saturday September 16

Candle Decorating Teen Take and Make: Don’t want a plain boring candle? Decorate it with your own designs. After it’s been decorated it will still be safe to light. Kits are first come first served.

Teen DND Event: Learn how to play DND and be a part of the adventure.

When: Saturday, September 16 and Saturday, October 14

Tween Lego Club: Come to LEGO Club and let your imagination run free! Follow prompts and challenges to build your own creations. What will you build?

When: Every other Tuesday. September 19, October 3, and October 17.

Tween Coding Club: Learn to create your own games and animations through computer programming! Participants will learn basic coding starting at level one and progressing to level five. No prior programming experience is required, but students should be comfortable using a mouse, keyboard, and web browser.

When: Tuesdays, September 26, October 10, October 24, and November 7.

Halloween Slime Tween Take and Make: Gooey, slimy fun. Make your own slime at home. Even add different items for a Halloween twist. Materials are first come first served.

Popcorn Balls Teen Take and Make: A delicious Halloween treat made by you, for you. Popcorn balls. You can even add supplies from home. Candy eyeballs, food coloring, the possibilities are endless. Materials are first come first served.

Tween Book Club: Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate is a book about overcoming obstacles. Jackson and his family have fallen into hard times. But Crenshaw, A large, outspoken, imaginary cat has come into Jackson’s life to help. Check out the book at the library, on Libby, or Hoopla. Then join this book club to play games related to this amazing story.
