About the Internship Program
Internship experiences will include:
- Accompanying a patrol officer on all official business (except when safety considerations dictate to the contrary)
- Observing the writing of some reports, especially those necessary to process prisoners, inventory property, and/or criminally charge an offender
- Participating in the Ride-Along Program as authorized by the chief of police

- Receiving as many diverse assignments as possible
- Spending time in the Patrol Division, Detective Division, and Services Division
- Touring headquarters for familiarization purposes
- Undergoing two evaluations during the semester or summer by the assigned supervisor

Rating Criteria
Interns will be given a rating on each of the following points:
- Ability / willingness to learn
- Ability to handle criticism
- Appearance
- Attendance
- Attitude towards work
- Creativity / suggestions

- Initiative
- Judgments
- Oral / written communication skills
- Professionalism
- Quality / quantity of work
- Work habits
|
Interns also have the opportunity to evaluate the internship themselves
