Dog Obedience
Registration Begins Tuesday, September 5 at 8:00 a.m.
Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required. Payment can be made by credit or debit card by phone or by check or cash in person. Online Registration also available. All classes are subject to sales tax. Please call the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center for more information at 626-7081.
Dog obedience classes fill early and are on a first pay basis. Reserve your place in class by calling (605)626-7015 and pay with your Visa/MasterCard or Discover.
NEW! WALK WITH ME!
This is a fast-paced course on how to have successful loose leash adventures with your dog. This course will give you the skills to navigate your neighborhood and have a great time doing it. The course covers focus and teamwork exercises, feeding and leash mechanics, and of course preferred walking gear and skills. Please note that a strict “heel” is not prioritized. No pre-requisites and open to all ages of dogs. Be prepared to bring treats to class to train with. Participants will need to bring shot records for canine to class as proof of appropriate vaccinations. Please provide an email address when registering. *Note: This program is NOT suitable for dogs that are uncomfortable in a group setting or bark and lunge on walks. K-9 KINDERGARTEN & ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Designed as puppy’s first obedience, socialization, and owner/handler educational course with their pup. Education on canine body language as it relates to other animals, dogs, and people in their world. Observation and interpretation of ‘dog speak’ is taught and applied. Basic Obedience commands taught each class, along with canine enrichment, agility, and nose-work introductions. Proof of up to date, age-appropriate vaccinations must be provided to attend. Bordetella vaccination is also required to attend. Ages 14 and up.

CANINE MANNERS CLASS
Are you the top dog in your home, or is your dog the one who runs the show? Be the master of your domain once again by enrolling Fido in this beginning course to help you gain control! This course will cover basic training in come, sit, down, greeting strangers, stay, and heel along with basic behavioral conditioning to establish pack order in the household. Participants must be strong enough to handle their dog. Participants will need to bring shot records for canine to class as proof of appropriate vaccinations and Bordetella is required.

STAR PUPPY PROGRAM
Puppies must be less than one year old at the end of the class. The American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is a 6-week incentive program to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. Training classes include socialization skills, information on puppy raising including house training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. The class is led by an AKC approved Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, with a test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test you will receive an application to send to the AKC to receive the Star Puppy Medal and be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. For puppies up to one year of age. Participants will need to bring shot records for canines to class as proof of appropriate vaccinations and Bordetella is required.
Ages 13 and up.
