The Aberdeen Water Reclamation Plant (Wastewater Treatment) located a mile south of Melgaard road, was constructed in 1987 and upgraded starting in 2006.
The Water Reclamation Plant reclaims, on average, four million gallons of wastewater per day.
Treatment of Wastewater
The Water Reclamation Plant removes oxygen demanding pollutants, solids, and ammonia from the wastewater using both mechanical and biological means.
The treated water (called effluent) is then discharged into Moccasin Creek. This is regulated by the issuance of a Surface Water Discharge permit.
