ARCC VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM

Introducing a school-year long program dedicated to the Visual Fine Arts! Our unique program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore and develop confidence in their own creativity. It is an ongoing, sequential program where skills are developed, much like dance or piano lessons.

Classes are built upon fundamentals learned at the primary levels and progress to higher skill levels. Classes meet once a week and will follow a sequential curriculum designed for the development of artistic appreciation, skills, knowledge, positive criticism, and professionalism. Each class level includes: Basic design; Art History; Drawing; Painting; Printmaking; Sculpture; Clay; Media Arts; Presentation and Professionalism in the Arts. All classes are taught by professionally trained artists and educators.

Key elements of the ARCC Visual Arts classes include highly qualified, effective teachers; regularly scheduled class time; authentic space, materials, and equipment; access to art galleries for exhibition and appreciation of a variety of art forms; and professional artists as guest instructors.

Classes begin in September and will wrap up with a student-led Gallery Show and Reception highlighting the year’s artworks in April. Class size is limited.

All classes will be held at Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center.  Programs do not follow the school calendar. For more information, please call the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center at 626-7081.
