    October 15, 2022, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Does your child need more practice reading out loud? The Reading Buddies program provides an opportunity for your child to read to a registered therapy dog in a relaxed atmosphere. The therapy dog sits calmly beside the reading child and listens patiently to a story. The children choose the books they want to read to the dog. According to studies cited in Public Libraries magazine, children who consistently read to therapy dogs improve their reading fluency by 12 percent, including “the ability to explain, describe, analyze, and infer.” Reading to dog programs offer a unique opportunity for budding or struggling readers to transform into confident kids.
